Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt
2022 | oil and latex paint on canvas
175 cm x 260 cm (5.75' x 8.5’)
This piece changes drastically when you move. The light catches different surface layers and angles, revealing flecks and stains of paint applied over time and from multiple directions. It almost appears as if it were left outside to melt and crack in the sun, or perhaps to endure rainstorms and had since soaked up its surroundings. Such precariousness, so much wavering unpredictability. The title of the work seems to beg the question – which things are certain to be true?
