each piece 75 cm wide (approx. 2.5') with lengths varying from approx. 1,25 to 3,65 meters (4' to 12')
A contemporary consideration of the “Course of Empire” series of paintings, located between Thomas Cole’s Romantic rapture and Ed Ruscha’s cool bleakness. Particular focus was placed on the final piece from Cole’s version, titled Desolation, where ruins and other human-made constructs appear to be reclaimed by natural overgrowth, as landscape returns to wilderness.
