The variety of functions and meanings for window treatments are referenced throughout the exhibition, including their use to control visibility, provide a sense of privacy and security, enhance the peculiarities of a space, and regulate the atmosphere, especially in extreme weather conditions. The hanging fabric sheets billow and oscillate between cloud and water forms, also connecting the skylight windows with the Weathervanes Series and preparing us for the conditions for perspectives that are intrinsically connected to sky and land, interior and exterior spaces. The fabric itself is primarily sourced from previously used window hangings, already stained from exposure to their surrounding environments, and further saturated by Elizabeth Gerdeman with natural and synthetic dyes that cull the gradient tones of rainstorms.
