This series of watercolor paintings was created during the fast, wet, and furious seasonal shift of the monsoon and influenced by the varied patterns and effects that they can bring: flash flooding, dust storms, extreme lightning. At the same time, the monsoons also replenish local reservoirs, groundwater, and seasonal and perennial streamflows. This variability is difficult to understand and predict, because it results from the complex interactions between atmospheric circulation features and the extremely diverse topography. Melding notions of risk with replenishment, Let The Rain Settle In binds recent histories with potential futures amid a tenuous present existence between dry and wet worlds.
