The forms and material for this project reference shade sails or sun sails, which are meant to provide protection from the severe effects of the sun's heat and UV rays. The amalgam of images is composed from both visual-simulation references in scientific articles on increasingly extreme weather (particularly storms) as a result of climate change and global warming, and from compositions based on depictions of storms in the paintings of Romantic landscape artists, such as Turner, Friedrich and Bierstadt.
